I may have missed some lesson somewhere, but very little music theory has been covered (saying that I voted for new styles funk, jazz, classical etc would be nice) I think I saw a lesson on a major scale or major minor arpeggios or somthing but thats very little theory.

perhaps start with standard chord progressions/rules as a base and expand on that. And how the theory you put in lessons applies to the guitar.

I remember seeing a bunch of lessons on intervals, etc... There were like 10 or something... oh well, I apologize for my complaining.

I think alot of guitarists could use some pointers on modulation

If people are interested maybe the subject of note rows or impressionist scales and techniques etc could be discussed to add futher dimensions to their playing and composing.

I took the time to print out all your lessons. It's my theory bible now. I'm working my a(( off to learn it all. Thank you,Thank you,Thank you so much for that.
Now, I voted for the style thinggie, but I really would like to see a combination of the two, tapping and style. I really like Vai's tapping, although what he does makes absolutly no sense to me. But those tapped arpeggios in that solo piece after G3's Answers makes me drool. That stuff I really would like to learn. I tried, and failed. I have no clue what pattern it is, or which notes he plays. It's just to fast for me..

But that would be great, if you could do that in a lesson.

LGM, you do know that there's been a fingerpicking lesson already right? *Al DiMeola I'm not, but I did put out a little lesson on fingerstyle.

Actually, I did see that one, and I see it's pinned now. *Lousy part for me, and it's the problem for me with that lesson I guess, is I can learn any song. *Like, I've played sailing ships in bands for years. *That doesn't phase me. *Where I think i want to be, is like I am with rock. *I learnt all the picking techniques from scratch. *I learnt all of it from there. *And now, I can improvise, write, all that stuff with that style. *I think it's more exercises I'm looking for, with variations, like the Vai picking exercises. *Actually, thinking about it now, I could use them as finger picking exercises the way I use them for string skipping. *I just need a book :lame:

Why don't you get something by Mark Knopfler (dire straits).
He only does fingerpicking. Never seen the guy with a pick..

LGM, here's what I do to warm up for fingerpicking.

Choose a scale, pentatonic is easiest to begin with, then I use my thumb for a bass note and pedal the G and B open and I voice the highest note in that position. *The only thing I change at first is the bass note. *I go up the scale. *After that you can change the high note too. *like this:

Jem7VWH, thank you man, I'll use that along with I've started using the 1234 Vai approach but in fingerpicking, once I get some patterns I think are useful, I'll post them .

as a finger picking suggestion, try villalobos fisrt study or barrios concert study.
I can scan and email if you like.

Barrios approach to the fingerboard is breathtaking, though it is more difficult
