Powertab v/s Guitar Pro

Which one is better? I've been a regular user of guitar pro and I think it tops power tab. Plus the new version of GP with the virtual keyboard and mode/scale pattern + regular notation is just great!!
what's your opinion?

I use both.

I've been using Power tab for about 2 months now. I've had Guitar-pro for a few years, but haven't used it much lately.

I haven't used either of them extensively, but I think I like Power Tab better.

(I had to use Guitar Pro last week, I couldn't find a Power Tab for Cool #9)

Oh, BTW, I definately like the printing layout and features better in Power Tab!

I favour powertab... and I'm not too happy about the tabs for GP @ mysongbook... The tabs @ powertabs.net are much better!

I gotta go with guitar pro...its so much easier to use. Other than it doesn't produce standard notation of the song, it still does the job better. You can have instruments other than guitar and bass on guitar pro, and I also like how it plays the music in the editor and not open a seperate "program" for it. Its also a heckuva lot easier to change tempos around to learn really hard stuff. And I think the tabs for it are as good as power tabs.

Well I never learned to read standard notation, but I do imagine that this is a very important feature for some people.
But the one thing I think guitar pro beats power tab dead is other instruments' backing tracks. Having or not having drums, bass line plus keyboards makes a huge difference!

Less than you'd think- power tab lets you change the midi instrument that the guitar is triggering, and while it's a bit haphazard triggering drums that way, it CAN be done, and keys, etc. are a breeze.

And who uses midi drums these days, anyway?

I say you need both, cause powertab displays all instruments on one page, unlike GP, you have to click on a instrument to see what its playing, I have both, GP5 and powertab, on of the best new features is the RSE from GP5, makes the instruments sound like real ones, great feature to those who want to cover a song as accurately as possible...but IMO i like PT better, cause its easier to write a riff in there......try both, then choose..

I haven't tried the new Guitar Pro (5) But i've used PowerTab for about 3 years now and find it very easy to use, it has a layout which is easier on the eye and i really like the actual music notation. It's a shame that you can't get a PowerTab archive.

I've downloaded the GuitarPro archive which has 43,000 tabs so i'm forced to use that unfortunately.

Guitar Pro by far. I really cannot see what is so appealing about powertab, I hate it really.

Powertab by far, I find it much easier to manage having the whole score there in front of you, rather than as seperate tracks for each instrument. The score itself is an issue too, GP doesn't display tempo changes or whatever, just has a red dot above the score indicating a change (of which many are possible).

What's the problem with keys voices? You just change the midi instrument in the guitar setup page.

Actually, when there is a tempo change, the tempo is indicated at the top of the program. It changes with the tempo. Not trying to start a debate, just pointing it out.
