Recommend a good book

I was looking online for some good shred books

I heard intelli shred was good and secrets of shred guitar too

I was wondering what players here have bought and found helpful

Just wondering if anyone bought any of these books

As I cant look at them before buying online and am looking for a book to study at to improve my fretboard knowledge, theory and scale and mode knowledge

pretty sure someone on here is the writer of intelli shred. If you do find a good book on that topic please say as I am also wanting to improve in those areas. I'm currently reading Guiar theory 'everything you were afraid to ask' (also off amazon Uk)

It's not bad some sections are explained well, other parts make it confusing so overall I wouldnt say its a great book.

it's good to know there are some people still willing to help others!

2 quick questions:

- what public is this book intended for? (where I am I won't find it... maybe I can find the summary online??)
- how about creating a specific topic for this book?

like this jemsitters would be able to ask questions, you could help them and it would be a good way to advertise the book. no??

I'm always open and available to try and help anybody with anything anytime..all you ever gotta do is ask here or through a pm or e-mail,, if I can help I will.
You can google the book's title "Intelli-Shred" and you'll see its available at a ton of online and brick and mortar locations in the US, UK, Italy and Japan.. those are the ones that I know of..
It's been featured in the December 2007 issue of Guitar Techniques.. I'd post a couple of links and such, but I don't want to violate any rules here on Jemsite that I may not know about/remember..lol.
The book is intended for those who have been playing for a while and are having a hard time putting everything together. It is meant to help you see the way the fingerboard lays out and to help you be able to travel it however you please and give as many different melodic options as possible. It is also intended to help you find your own voice as opposed to simply copying what someone else has already done.. and it can also give you a peak into how and why certain things work in a given players style.

I don't know if this falls into what you are looking for, but I've found the Troy Stetina books to be helpful to me. You may want to check out Speed Mechanics.

I'll have a new book out in the Spring based on various arpeggio techniques and styles: triads playing, sweeps, economy picking, string skipping, string skip tapping (Govan/Romeo style), etc.. it'll be able to be both a stand alone book or a companion to Intelli-Shred.
Wanted to pop in and take a look around.. right in the middle of editorial deadlines for this thing.. I'm due to turn it over (the manuscript) at Namm.

Been working from this book on and off for the last year or so... It's a must buy in my opinion... It's full of great exercises to get your hands in shape... So a big thanks JackButlerGOT for writting such great material!

It's cool that Kevin is part of the Family here and able to help you guys - and kudos to him for not pushing his book down our throats as others have in the past-I actually have the book myself.

Word-Of-Advice:
When you have the author right here it would be counter-productive to ignore this opportunity to learn and improve your playing.....

Guthrie Govan's 'Creative Guitar 2 Advanced Techniques' is excellent.

It helped bring my alternate picking technique on in leaps and bounds.

Troy stetina's books are also veyr good. I have 'speed mechanics for lead guitar' and 'metal lead guitar volume 1'. The former has been a great help with my sweep picking.

Sorry I haven't been around much. I just finished a new book on arpeggio theory, application and various techiniques. Should make a really nice companion to Intelli-Shred.
As soon as I know what the release date is, I'll post it here on the forum.
