The easiest satch piece would be "Starry Night"

Re: Satch for a beginner shredder

Ten Words from Super Colossal. Nice groove, very melodic and bluesy, and quite representative of Satch, actually. It's a super easy song, too, and it has a great variety of tones. Also, crowd chant is a good "experienced beginner" song that is, by nature, a bit "shreddier" than Ten Words. Both are quite easy to pick up. Then, move along into more advanced stuff...anything on SWTA would be great. Good luck!

Re: Satch for a beginner shredder

I found 'A Train of Angels' from Crystal Planet is quite good, if you can remember the position shifts for the intro part. Solos aren't too hard and it's got a good driving groove.

Re: Satch for a beginner shredder

the first song from satch that I learned is The Extremist, it´s not hard and is a lot of fun to play

actually I´ve just realized that I´ve learned most of the songs mentioned in this thread and I only remember how to play 2 or 3 of them, hmm I´ll go re-learn those songs haha

Re: Satch for a beginner shredder

go back to the beginning try out 'Not of this Earth' or if you like the Jam after Circles on "Satriani Live" try "The Enigmatic" also off Not of this Earth'

Re: Satch for a beginner shredder

Ten Words may be the easiest. It has a melodic verse, and a nice solo in the middle that sounds good but doesn't rely on any effects or whammy tricks.

Ohh and check out the Joe Satriani book on this page, If Troy Stetina played the solo's from the book it must be pretty accurate
