And more importantly-
1) Does this "Led Zeppelin" have guitarists who play Ibanez 7-strings
...and...
2) Are they better than Symphonic X (who some people may believe are "better" than Dream Theater, but who pale in comparison to Rush)
:sarcasm:

One other idea...drop your trem about as low as it goes with your right hand, position your finger to hit a harmonic (not pinched, just regular) but do it on the third fret of the g string then bring the trem up real fast. Use it with some compression. The trem being pulled up real fast will activate the string and bring out the harmonic on the third fret of the g string. Make sure the other strings are muted with thumb and other fingers. The harmonic on the G is super high you get all the dampened lower grunts of some the lower strings. Also works on 9th fret but it's not as high. Knock yourselves out...

You guys should check out www.satriani.com

There are reviews for the most recent shows. *If someone does something (like play the vocal line to Rock and Roll) someone will probably mention it. *That's how I learned which Dream Theater song Petrucci did at the end of his set in Atlanta (it was Paradigm Shift).

grrr....arg...

just read through that. No one even mentioned that Vai also does the harmonic-whammy-thingy!!!!

You know...Vai, the dude that designed the Jem guitar.

one other thing, Led Zep Rock!!! I'm collecting they're music (on CD) I'm just having trouble trying to reason that I should spend money on an expensive boxed set for 3-5 songs that aren't on anything else.....

speaking of which...

I don't know if any of you are familiar with a guy named Dimebag Darrel...you know, Pantera?

He well drop the bar kinda pluck the G string over the 3rd fret and hold it over to produce a harmonic when pulling up. Creates a wild screaming sound..

Listen to the end of cemetery gates....it is freaking awesome.

On the subject of pinched harmonics and the like, Zakk Wylde can't be left out; he's a pinchin' monster! *Not my fav. guitarist, but can't deny his squeals. *

someone deserves to be Lynched...

GEORGE Lynched!!!

He gets 'em pretty good...as for Diamond Darrell, I like his little fills better than those over the top thingies...like in Psycho Holiday, the ending chorus.

I put some very high ones in my latest file - listen to 'em!!

The Summer Song intro was Led Zep, I'd have to think about it awhile to remember which.

Open string pinched harmonic, doesn't matter which string. Reach around and grab the bar, pinch the harmonic, and whammy it. He'll start with the bar depressed, he'll also push up on the bar with his thumb from underneath, all depends on what he's after. Leaves his right hand free to throw up in the air, or mute wound strings, or just plain looks cool because it's different and pure Satch. Helps if your bar is bent like Joe's where it's much closer to the body to begin with, it rides in your hand smoother while picking when it's bent also.
That's it! I've been trying to figure out since Jeremy pointed it out to me why my JS10th's whammy bar is bent! It sits much closer to the body than the bar from my JEM.. Hmmm....

Somebody did a custom bend on it, didn't come stock like that. I've bent quite a few over the years.

Ahh.. got my hopes up.. lol

I double checked the bar with another bar and it doesn't seem to be bent.. But the tremelo angle is correct, and the bar still sits strangely close to the body. Maybe the socket is crooked..

1)Do the harmonic scream with the bar and pull it up as far as possible.

2)Incorporate this into all your playing because it is damn cool.

3)Have heart attack as bar snaps in two while you are holding it up there one day. And then another as it happens yet again 2 months later.

It's happened, and will happen again...
