Satriani technique

Hi,
I haven't posted in a long time. Satriani does a technique in some songs, notably "I Am Become Death" from Time Machine. It sounds almost like he is tremolo picking on two strings simultaneously. Does anyone know exactly what he is doing to get that sound? Thanks for the help.

that is probably what he is doing. its common to trem pick 2 and even 3 or more strings....

It sounds also like he was using a harmonizer during most of that song (if you're talking about the part I think you are), but also as Brian said, it's not uncommon to trem pick two strings at once. It's a very interesting song.
