"Slurred" trills

This is another definition question for those in the knowing.

I know (or atleast I think I know) a trill is hammering between the two same notes a for as long as you like but I was looking at some stuff which had "slurred trills" in it. Personally I couldn't see the difference between these slurred ones and normal trills.

Maybe there isn't a difference!

Did it actually say "slurred trill" on the page? Or was it pictoral?

Taken from quite an old issue of Guitar Techniques magazine. The solo is from "Goodbye To Romance" and the lesson is by Phil Hilbourne. He's a respected man in the guitar world. He wouldn't lie to me would he?

Ooh, I dunno... a man who owns a pink PRS, can he really be trusted?! Having said that, he did record and produce the new Adrian Legg album that's been released through Favoured Nations and gigged with Vinnie Moore and Frank Gambale...

To be honest, I don't think that he means anything particular or out of the ordinary. I think he was taking into account that it's a tuitional article and so was just saying that trills are not articulated, but slurred so you don't play every note. Most people would just say 'trill' because by definition it includes the fact that it's slurred together, but I think he was just being extra clear about it to cater for everyone!
