Small fingers =(
Hey, I'm 17 this year and I have relatively small fingers for my age and my peer group. I know this is a weird question but is it still possible for me to grow my fingers? I have been playing for 5 years and I still find that small fingers are a disadvantage. For example I find it difficult to mute the
lower strings
with my thumb when executing certain technique. Any advise will be appreciated.

Re: Small fingers =(
Can you fret fret positions 5, 7 and 9 or 10 simutaneously. I would worry more about that, than the thumb trick. Also, what kinda guitar do you play? A wizard I neck is pretty thin, maybe that would help. Or a EBMM neck that is narrow.
There are almost always options. My hands certainly aren't large, but I have always seemed to work my way around it . As far as growing, that probably won't really happen, being your already 17, but ya never know.
I've seen guys with sausage fingers play well. I don't know how they do it, but they do. It's more about how determined you are to succeed than anything else. Good Luck.

My hands aren't too big, but over time from practicing I've noticed my fingers can STRETCH farther and are STRONGER
practice practice practice, scales, songs, chords, etc.

Re: Small fingers =(
my hands are very small, well I'm a very short man, and I can even play regular scale p-bass, and have no problems with my guitar, is ony a matter of practicing harder than people wth better genes.

Re: Small fingers =(
I think that you'll find every finger shape and size has it's advantages and disadvantages. I think you should just keep woodshedding and you will sub-conciously develope a technique that works.
Believe me, those long skinny fingers come with problems of their own...

I don't have small fingers but they are bent, especially my pinky. It really has had no effect on how I play or practice.
