If I'm reading right, Speed Lives shows you how to play "No Boundries" and Speed Kills is your usual instructional video.

Yea, Speed Kill is his classic instructional video -- Speed Lives is breakign doen "No Boundaries" (one song) into about 27 parts and showing you how to play it, enabling someone to learn all of Michael's techniques in the process.

I could probably learn the No Boundaries tune by ear. It's straightforward, inside stuff - at half the tempo, that is.

I wanna play faster, esp picking. I want to improve my technique for my own playing and improv. You know - scale fragments, sweeping, string skipping, and technique combination (string skipping/sweeping/tapping, sweep up/tap down, et c.). I want to know how he plays so fast.

I'm leaning towards speed kills. Have you seen this one? It's better for my goals?

I've learned some things from Paul Gilbert's and Ritchie Kotzen's videos. Paul Gilbert's videos are very good. I do a lot of chromatics, RH exercise, sweeping. arpeggios.

I use alternate picking because it sounds better.

I'm also looking for more chromatic exercises and drills.

I always thought that these videos are all pretty much the same and they all show the same things and similar exercises. Anyway, I've seen it and it's ok. Some of his string skeeping stuff is interesting. CHeck it out...

I would recommend getting a video, as they're very helpful. I wouldn't have gotten the hang of alternate picking and other "shred" techiniques had I not checked out Paul Gilbert and Yngwie. Here's a good "No Boundries" Tab: http://www.powertabs.net/pta.php?page=song,3812

Personally i find rusty cooley's art of picking, shred guitar manifesto, and extreme pentatonics better because of the legato and picking excersises. I was watching speed kills when i first started playing and it really helped my picking speed but for the legato the rusty cooley vids are better.

I'd get Speed Kills. I learnt quite a bit from that video. String Skipping, Sweep Picking properly, lol, alternative picking. Plus with the new updated version, you get on screen tab too which makes things alot easier.
