I would recommend the one mentioned by Phill! I've been looking for that book, the backing tracks are a really good tool to work with. Plus with sections slowed down, it's less tricky when figuring the stuff out by ear.
Another great source of Vai stuff would be the Hal Leonard transcriptions which are out for his respective albums. I have 3 of them, PAW, ALS and FG. I find them really really helpful. But it's all up to you to practice them, having the books is only the first step. Getting to sit down and learn the material is a whole different thing altogether. It can be preeeetty embaressing having all those books and not being able to play anything...which reminds me....
A great thing to do, for me, is to pick out key signature Vai licks which truely characterizes his playing and to play them on the guitar, it can be a very uplifting experience. Or better yet, go learn that Vai song that you've constantly been playing
air guitar too!
