String skipping 101 - ok, I'm bored, lets get started

Well, after a couple hours of studying, I need a break, and I've got nothing productive to do here, so I thought I'd do something productive on Jemsite. *So here we go, string skipping.
First or all, to start with, lets us 3 notes per string, I find this one the easiest to do with a legato run, for the first example, lets us the Ionian mode in G with 3 notes per string.
--------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------5-7-8--------
-------------------------4-5-7------------------------
---------4-5-7-----------------4-5-7----------------
-----------------3-5-7--------------------------------
-3-5-7------------------------------------------------
To start with, go slow, with a metronome, speed up as your comfort level increases. *I prefer the sound of this run done all with hammer on's , but it is crisper if you pick it all. *Practice both ways.
Here is the same idea, only in G Aeolian (minor) again with 3 notes per string.
-------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------4-6-8-------
-------------------------3-5-7-----------------------
---------3-5-7-----------------3-5-7---------------
-----------------3-5-6-------------------------------
-3-5-6-----------------------------------------------
Then, there are some funky variations that can be done, here's one in G Ionian again
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------5-7-8-----
-----------------------------------------4-5-7---------4-5-7-------------
-----------------4-5-7---------4-5-7---------4-5-7---------------------
---------3-5-7---------3-5-7---------------------------------------------
-3-5-7---------------------------------------------------------------------
OK, so how's it going so far? *good? great! then keep on reading.
Here's some that sound kewl, but are a little trickier.
--------------------------------------------------------5-7-8-7-5-----
------------------------------------------------5-7-8--------------8---
---------------------------------4-5-7-5-4----------------------------
-------------------------4-5-7--------------7--------------------------
---------3-5-7-5-3----------------------------------------------------
-3-5-7--------------7--------------------------------------------------
Then there are some kewl two handed ones we can play with () are tapped notes
-----------------------------------------------------------------(10)-6-8-(15)--
------------------------------------------(-3-6--------------------------------
---------------------(-3-5-----------------------(10)-5-7-------------------
-------------------------------(10)-5-8-----------------------------------------
-----------(-3-5-------------------------------------------------------------
-(-3-6-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Then, we can do not only string skipping, but jump it all over the fretboard for a little more snap!
-----------------17-16-14------------------------------12-10-9-------------
------------------------------17-15-14----------------------------12-10-9-7
---------------------------------------------------4-6-7------------------------
-------------------------------------------4-6-7--------------------------------
---------2-4-5------------------------------------------------------------------
-2-4-5--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, that's enough for now, a guitar in my lap would be helpful right now, but since they're all in another city right now, I can't remember any others off the top of my head, but I'll add to this when I can.
Have fun with it, that's what it's here for!!!
Jeremy
