Suggestions with Barre Chords

Bare with me guys if I sound dense. I am working on trying to get my finger speed up. I like to play lead guitar. The problem that I have is getting my fingers to move quickly from picking single notes to a barre chord. I know the chords, so it is not an unsureness issue, but my fingers don't transition fast enough for my liking from notes to barring. Not sure if it would be noticable to a listener.

Are there any exercises out there for this? Will this just come naturally with time and practice? I'm an impatient sort.

Speed up your fingering huh huh.

Just keep practicing. There's no magic in it, jsut repetition.

If I have problems fretting a new chord quickly I slow down the motion a watch what my fingers are doing and try to see if I can do anything better, but after that its just practise practise practise.

If you sit here on jemsite then the technique will eventually become natural

(i'm in a naughty mood.....sorry )

Don't worry about the speed of it. Just make sure you can do it cleanly and accurately even if it's at a snails pace. Then just work on slowly increasing it WITHOUT losing the accuracy. It will take time, lots of time and patience....there is no magic solution Please don't rush things......trust me, you will regret it later on if you do. It is probably easier to get good technique from the start than trying to correct bad technique later on

Yeah, Jemsite is part of the problem. I am not practicing enough these days. I need to learn the art of Jemsitting. I used to do that with Yahoo IM.

Maybe if I slowed down the notes, no one would notice the time lapse of my barring! Sounds like practice, practice, practice,.... I'm just starting to make peace with barring; I used to hate it.
