Sweeping.

Ok say you have a 3 string sweep going across the G, B and E strings. You downpick the G and the B strings obviously. But are you supposed to down pick or up pick the E? Im just starting to learn sweeping and I dont want to develop any bad habits.

Re: Sweeping.

Are there any notes closely following the last note? Also the way I was taught was to downpick them all in most situations.

Re: Sweeping.

If you're going back up to the B string, I prefer using a downstroke even though it's not the most economic way to do it.

We aren't robots all those imperfections add to your sounds for good or bad but nevertheless they come from you.

notice that he explains how you should hear all the individual notes when sweeping, yet when he speeds his up, they mush up and lack definition.. sweeping is the area that I personally think guthrie is weak in.. not that it is very important, but based on his ridiculously solid technique in most other areas of lead guitar, you'd expect him to sweep pick a bit more cleanly..

Lol, I've heard Satomura a while ago. He's very good. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that it is practically impossible to find a Naoto Project Storm Rider (that's the band he's in) CD in the US.

Re: Sweeping.

Those videos helped me quite a bit thanks. I think I'm just going to take the less economical way and down pick the E then up pick the B. Anyone know if Satomura is the guy in this video in the middle with the flying V? http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...24339804757997
And just for the hell of it anyone know who the guy is with the strat?

Nah, its not Satomura, but the guy with the flying V is the best of all three of them.
