Sweet Child of Mine

Just wondering, do you guys have a preferred fingering for the Sweet Child of Mine intro?

I know what the notes are, I'm just fumbling a bit trying to find the optimal fingering for comfort and speed. (still a beginner)

Thanks.

All in 12th position, a little bit of string skipping makes it a little tricky

So given the notes are primarily on the 12th, 14th and 15th frets IIRC, would you suggest index, middle, ring fingers, or index, ring, and pinky?

That's what gets me in trouble.

Re: Sweet Child of Mine

For me I'd do it as :

Index
Ring
Middle
Index
Ring
Middle (bar at 14th)

That's start from the beginning Db and going up until you hit the part where you would have to bar the 14th for the next 3 notes

Thank you!! I'll give that a try.

So the pinky finger doesn't come into play at all then... No wonder it was feeling ackward.

Re: Sweet Child of Mine

My pinky finger really hates me so it never wants to play as fast as my other 3 and with something like this I just let it be a jerk and don't bother trying to use it

I can use it on some licks but only certain ones, and SCOM isn't one of them

Re: Sweet Child of Mine

I have the opposite problem with my Pinky. Little bastard always wants to play with the big boys.

When I first started playing I got in the bad habit of using my pinky on power chords. I still fight the habit to this day, but an unexpected result was a much stronger pinky, which helps tremendously on other parts.

Get the little guy some work.
