Re: tap delay, how it works?

You tap your foot on a momentary footswitch in a regular tempo, and the delay repeats will match your rhythm.

Not quite right.
That is a tap/tempo delay.

If he has a tap delay, he may have a delay thet each 'tap' is one repeat.
You set the number of taps and can define the intervals between taps to give a reverse effect, or doppler shift feel. An algorithm is already set up in many cases.

You can get some cool sounding effects if you set the overall delay time short (1,2,5,10ms) and then alter the # of taps,(1-7) this can give you a slightly flanger on hold setting which can be great for lead tones.

Hope this helps.

Re: tap delay, how it works?

enough so it can get a consistant feel for the rhythm - two or three taps, and any slight variations will become obvious. Four or five, and it should be tighter.
