To sweep .. or not to sweep ?

What´s up my friends , well I need some help here , my ex teacher taught me to play with sweep, to play anything , using sweep the thing here is that the ****er taught me wrong he just said to me when your going down first pick down , and whn youre going up, first pick up . So this helped me i need to say but i found out that this is not gambale´s sweep so im trying to learn his way , but it is very difficult so the questions I have is , gambale plays everything with sweep ? or he just plays some licks and arpeggios ? should I work my butt of to learn it or stick with the good old alternate ? thanks very much and please let me know what you think .

geeez, just learn it. it will be a must in the feature for you. apart from that, it's fun to sweep. it's hard to master, but when you first do it correctly that moment will be of pure euphoria...

so i say TO SWEEP lol

Gambale mostly uses economy/speed picking, I believe. Basically 3nps patterns alternate picked with mini-sweeps when changing strings. Direction is changed by playing a 2nps (or 4nps) line. It's not multiple string sweep picking per se, although he does play those large sweeps as well every once in a while....

I hope that makes any sense whatsoever....

If your style is into shred-blues stuff, just try some
Paul Gilbert sweep techniques...
It's rocks!!!

I'd say learn it. It can't hurt to be able to do it.
