Re: tongue harmonics

Don't waste your time with it, if you are going to put in ovretime with your tongue, do it with your woman, the rewards will far surpass anything you would get from playing harmonics.

this reminds me to the lesson Guitar World did with Nigel Tuffnel probably back in the early 90's, and he talked about playing harmonics with your hair and how they sounded more natural.

p.s. there's nothing cool about playing harmonics with your tongue, unless you want to say "look at me, look at me".

Re: tongue harmonics

Don't be fooled by what you see vai doing...he's got his tongue and his foot going on the whammy pedal a lot of times.

It's amusing if you do it once in a while in front of a close-up crowd in a bar. I do and it always get a laugh. i just do a pull-off trill on the D string 2nd fret and run my tongue up & down near the pickups. make sure you hold the guitar in such a position that the audience can see what you're doing, otherwise they won't care

Re: tongue harmonics

I tried doing it once with a fernandes sustainer and it didn't quite do as well as I thought it would.

Try explaining what you are doing to the window cleaner, lol
