Re: Very Good Lesson by Vai

EXCELLENT advice about tone.

Here is another similar story:

"Ted Nugent was touring with Van Halen and Ted asked if he could plug into Eddie's rig... when he did--he was amazed that it didn't sound like Eddie when he played through it... it sounded exactly like what it was... Ted Nugent... playing through Eddie's amp!"

Ah that first video just reminds of how I was nearly bored to death at that clinic...

But thumbs up to the second one though!

Re: Very Good Lesson by Vai

If you'd like to see a look into Vai's style, check out the recent Guitar Techniques magazine. It's a Brit publication, so it may be a little hard to find. Very good though. I was going thru it last night. It's got some of his signature phrasing from the early 80's to today. It comes with a CD as well.

I read the exact same story in Guitar for the Practicing Musician but it was Dweezil Zappa plugging into VH's rig.

The tone is in you folks!
