Way to remember the order of modes

Some time ago I saw a sentence which uses the first letter of each mode as a way to remember the order. I can't think of what it is... can someone remind me?

I had to make up my own...

I (Ionian)
Don't (Dorian)
Play (Phrygian)
Like (Lydian)
Mike Mixolydian
And (Aolian)
Larry (Locrian)

LOL

As I'm trying to teach someone basic theory, I want to know the sentence that was posted up here, although I think mine is quite cool.

Modes are not basic theory. Ignore modes completely until he has a firm grasp on the major scale and diatonic harmony. Even then, modes are very rarely useful. There are better things to teach him.

LMAO

As longs as you practice the modes, you'll end up learning them.
And not decorating the names, but knowing the intervals.
Also, read as many scores as you can, write down some stuff you play; this helps a lot.

No, it isn't, but your point is irrelevant to me and to her also. I'm currently teaching her basic theory, and with that, I gave her an easy way to remember the order of modes. Best thing is, it worked great and without any complications. She already knows the major scale.

I did move to Japan, yes, but I'll be selling my house soon and moving to a caravan in Bognor Regis.

Well done for spotting the lack of parenthesis. Mike Mixolydian sounds like a cool name, though.
