Ways To Significantly Increase Sustain?

What are some ways to increase sustain besides actually buying a sustainer (the Fernandes Sustainer has been discontinued as far as I know)? I know that higher gain also increases it but I wanted to know if you guys had any tips on making the notes last longer.

a compressor works for me but it depends on your definition of significant

Buy new strings or a lighter gauge, make sure your trem arm's tight. If you're playing loud then reverb helps alot (spring if possible).

Where else could you get so many helpful hints eh?

Thicker Strings
Higher Action
Finger Vibrato
Playing Louder
Locking Down your trem system
Big Frets
Stainless Steel Frets
Chunky necks
Stiffer Woods or Composite Materials (see Parker Guitars)

If you play a Gibson Style guitar with a Tune-o-matic bridge and stop tailpiece, TonePros locking hardware will definitely add about 10 - 15% more sustain to your guitar, likewise Callahams claim at least an extra 10 - 15% sustain out of a Strat or Tele by properly installing their ultra high quality bridges (and anecdotally they seem to work very well)....

As someone said earlier, good technique will work wonders!

I'm definitely all for the chunky neck statement to. I just don't think these Wizard necks are cutting it for me.
