Where do you pick?
Where do you normally
pick
your strings??
Anyway, I used to pick on the neck when I first started
But later adapted to picking between the neck pu and middle pu to avoid scratching the pickups =)

Re: Where do you pick?
seems natural to me that when i'm doing fast alternate stuff to do it pretty much over the middle pickup. when it comes to most other things, over the bottom half of the neck's humbucker (the single closest to the bridge). i think most people do that.

Re: Where do you pick?
I tend to try and aim for somewhere near the strings....
Seriously though, it changes depending on the pick attack I want or for different techniques, but mostly around the middle pickup position.
Rock on!

Above middle pickup/Between neck pickup and bridge pickup.
Moving up or down the string if I want a different sound, or a specific PH/AH with index.

Re: Where do you pick?
Above the neck pickup most the time. Just seems comfortable to me. But as has been said it changes based on what I'm trying to do.

Re: Where do you pick?
Depending on the sound I want, I pick between 14th fret and the bridge

Re: Where do you pick?
Nice one 6fingers, made me chuckle.
I wish I was a bit more experimental and moved my picking position more. But because I do a lot of off/on palm muting (meeeeetal), that tends to dictate where I pick. So above middle p/up, or between miidle and neck - depending on what
guitar
I am playing.

Re: Where do you pick?
Usually resting my palm near bridge so middle to neck, but it really depends especially depending on what kind of harmonics I want

Re: Where do you pick?
Above the neck pickup.Just always seemed natural for me.Downside is the neck pickup gets scratched.Upsides are my trems don't get corroded and I'm a little closer for tapping licks.

Re: Where do you pick?
Depends on what sound/tone I'm going for.
For funky rhythms and similar, I pick/strum pretty high up on the neck, actually...probably around 15th fret area.
For getting a little bit of Tele twang or really sharp, defined notes (arpeggiated chords, etc), I pick super close to the bridge.
For typical lead stuff, I pick pretty much right on the edge of the neck and neck pup.
For heavy riffing, pretty much right over the dead center of the bridge pup, allowing enough room for smooth palm muting.
For blues, etc, I tend to move all over the place, as movement of picking
jemsite
.com/forums/tags.php?tag=location]location[/url] as well as shifting picking strength is pretty integral to coaxing expressive tones out of the strings.
Above all, I normally pick somewhere between but inclusive of the high and low E strings. I find that it helps a great deal.

Re: Where do you pick?
I usually pick above middle pickup/Between neck pickup and bridge pickup.
This way when I palm mute and rest my hand on the bridge, I'm not changing the pitch of the notes by putting pressure in the 'wrong' place.
If that even makes sense.
