Yingwie Malmsteen

I started out as a satch fan, and he will always be my favorite. Then i heard John Petrucci, and though, oh my good... Maybe he wasnot as good as satch but he's a real monster. Then, a couple of mounths ago i started to discover Vai. And one week ago i downloaded a videoclip from yngwie playing live, and i say oh my good !!! He is a real master.. *Offcourse i had heard him before, but when you se him playing, thats when u realize, he is one of the greatest, especcially when it comes to Technique(not at variation). I myself couldnot release the harmonic-minor that day from my head.... *Hehehe

I say Satch is the best, because hes got it all, speed, great blues playing, knowledge of scales/cords etc (check vids at guitar.com), and foremost, he plays with feelings... *

Personally, I wouldn't get too involved with Yngwie's music if you are still working on the Satch/Vai stuff. *Creativity/originality ASIDE, I think Yngwie is a far more technichally profficient player than Satch/Vai. *Much more clean speed and overall chops needed to pull off his music.

If you don't believe me, go learn the Trilogy Suite and then come back to Satch Boogie. *Satch Boogie will feel like "Smoke on the Water." hahahaha

Well, Satch boogie is not exactly one of the more demanding satch songs... Any way, i dont even like satch boogie that much.. *Yngwie is superb, and his tecnique is even more superb... *He's just not my no.1 favourite.

Satch Boogie was mearly an example...

Bottom line is that Malmsteen will be far more technically demanding than your average Satch/Vai song. *However, it just comes down to playing and playing until you can be fast.

Well, you got a point there. I think youre right, but just because it's tecnically demanding does not mean it's good... *I dont think yngwie is capable of making the guitar express the tones the way satch does.. not even close, and that is for me, far more valuable than being fast... *But the bottom line is that both are super guitarists and i like them both. It's up to taste to deciede what is good or bad.

Then once you master all of those guys, pick up some Tal Farlow and prepare to feel like you've never played guitar before

You can't possibly be saying that you have mastered Joe, Steve and Yngwie...
