I made a Jemfest 2001 VCD

I downloaded all of the 2001 Jemfest videos then burned them to a CD using Nero 5.5 to the VCD format. *I am now watching it on my television via my DVD player. *The compression is slightly heavy, but it sounds decent!

I used Nero Burning Rom 5.5 to make the VCD. *Easy as pie!

I'm trying this with my new video capture card. *Cool thing is I can capture at 640x480! *High quality, but none of my DVD players are MPEG-1 VCD compatible - meaning I cannot play them to test them out! *

This is eventually what I want to use for the Jemfest videos.

If there a Houston based Jemsiter who has a MPEG compliant DVD player let me know. *I'll make 1 CD as a test and maybe we can try it out. *A 25 second clip is 230MB... ouch! *Seems that MPEG-1 VCD converter utility does a good job at compression.

Rob,

What brand and model of DVD player do you have? *Some players won't read certain kinds of media. *My Sony (Bony) player will read CD-RW discs, but not anything burned on CD-R. *Just let me know and I'll be more than happy to hook you up!

Burn it to a CD-RW and send it to me if you want. *I'm in DC.

Hey Rich,

I have (finally) made vids from JF2K1 from the master tapes. *I'll send these 2 tapes (near 8 hours!). *I believe you got JF '99. *My JF2000 vids were a minimum as I didn't have time to run the camera and my battery ran out. *I know someone else had a vid camera running but I posted here asking who it was, but no answer. *Check your PO BOX late this week... I have Matt's vid to send out too. *

I'm really trying to wait to do much of my mailings/dupings and anything related to Jemfest until I get the tax ID from the State of Texas. *Once I get the bylaws approved, Jemfest will be a non-profit business and I can use the company to write-off all these expenses. *We have lots of cool stuff going on behind the scenes with Jemfest. *In fact, I was in Austin earlier in the evening and Bill and I were discussing it... *Starting a business is a tough thing, but my goal is to be at 100% by the end of September as long as the IRS approves us. *I just got an e-mail today pre-approving us for the business name! *

We'll have a Jemfest carivan taking off from Texas for next year. *I just got a HUGE truck to haul a bunch of us around the country in. *I'll be donating a trailer to Jemfest once I get the company going and it will be a safe place to put our gear. *Yes, it will have A/C and will have a security system installed. *My seats are full for my truck, but like I said, we'd like to get a carivan going and pickup a vehicle chain across the country. *Jemfest is going to be big next year. *We had a huge growth from 2000 to 2001. *Us organizers are finally figuring this thing out! *We should have official sponsers (not naming names!) and lots more cool stuff. *Sponsers can dump lots of goods to a non-profit business (it's a tax writeoff for them), so we'll see banners flying and gear galore.

Back to the tapes, I still have original tapes to send to Eric for mastering. *I got a new vid capture card that can capture at 640x480, but I could never get my audio to work. *I'll deal with that later.

Gabe
