Jem Fest..webcam? - Is there goin to be a webcast?
I remember last year there was rumor of a possible web cast of the event...is there any speculation of there being one this year?

Jem Fest..webcam?
Funny you should ask....heh heh.
I just finished updating the Jemfest.com Webcam page. *:-)
The answer to your question: *YES!
We've been researching broadband possibilities for the past several months. *We have local people checking out all feasible options for a smooth, jitter-free webcast. *Those still on dialups, sorry- don't expect full-motion video. *Those with a broadband connection can watch the event LIVE...as it happens. *
Depending on cost, we'd like to have it running the whole time, both days. *
There will be a direct link on the Jemfest.com site. *I'll keep y'all updated as best I can.
(damn these archives are hard to map out..."Ken played what year? *Video or just pics?"...LOL)

*'Right on, Kick ass..." hehe *Will there be anyway to save the stream? *Or will it just be a streamed event, and not archived?

Guys, I don't believe there will be a webcast because the Holiday Inn fell through on getting their high-speed access installed. It won't be complete until late summer. We looked into alternatives and at $2000 a day for a dedicated satellite feed it wouldn't be possible.
We will try what we can, but at 24000 baud, there's not much that can be done. Kevan and I will be putting up pictures quickly like last year and we might be able to get some video clips on the site within a few hours.
For next year we will begin searches on Hotels with high-speed internet access as a priority.
Thanks,
Gabe

I'm working on scoring a digital video camera. We'll shoot an artists set, then get it up and online ASAFP (probably that same night). Our hosting company already hates us, so I think a few hundred more MB of video won't make much difference. LOL It won't be "live", but it will be better quality.
I can't tell you all how p!ssed I am about the hotel not having the T1 installed yet. Stupid contract...."summer 2002"... (that means the contractor has to have it installed by September. Slackers.)
We'll deal with the bandwidth bill when we get back. :-)

Can't wait to live Jemfest like I live the rest of my life: seated in front of my computer having everything filtered through a series of pixels that tell me what to watch.

Good news. I got a dedicated PC to burn/download/upload movies and pictures to the site. It's a powerful system on loan from Compaq... er... HP.
