Jemfest 2001 Info!!! - 1.3.00

Here we go! *It's all set!

www.jemfest.com
(I'll get the online hotel reservation info up ASAFP.)

When you call the hotel for reservations, mention that you're there for Jemfest, and you get a break on the hotel room ($79/night/double occupancy). *Suggestion- share a room with someone; there's so much goin' on, you don't really spend much time in the hotel room.

Schedule-
Friday 9AM-9PM: *The International room is going to be setup as a centralized meeting area. *This will, hopefully, avoid the "Where the F is Ken" Syndrome. *If you're looking for someone, they'll either be in their hotel room or in the conf. room- instead of wondering if Bob Oakman is up in Ken's room, or if Ken is down in Gabe's room with Bob and Ryan, or if they're all in my room mocking me...giggling and saying "dwarf" under their breath. *

There will also be PLENTY of guitars on display throughout the day on Friday.

Saturday 12PM-12AM (or later)- *Plan on hearing some music. *Then we'll have some musical performances. *Later we'll hear some tonal imagery. *Oh, and some stuff will be raffled off. *We'll do the raffles inbetween sets. *Yes- EVERYONE that makes a donation is eligible (except for Gabe, Bill and Kevan). *In the past, when Rob Balducci won a Rob Balducci CD, we like to re-draw that item. *It would be silly for Ken Burtch to win an autographed Ken Burtch CD, no? *He only has 1,600 of them stacked in his kitchen. *LOL

THE CATCH- in order to be eligible for ANY of the raffles (yes- even the free ones), a donation must be made to Jemfest. *No- it does not have to be $63,000, but whatever you feel you can afford. *If you think that donating 24¢ is funny, so do we....and we'll probably make fun of you...in public. *Fair warning. *Some raffles will cost to enter, and some will be free. *Updates as raffle prizes become available. *

As far as the Jemfest Jam goes, it's an open jam for anyone that would like to play. *We try to keep it to 4 guitars or under. *There is usually a drummer and bassist backing the guitarists. *Sometimes, as in the case of David Hanbury's WICKED rendition of Voodoo Chile', there's a mic available for those brave enough to belt out some vocals. *

I think a "backing track" would be cool too. *We could arrange a signup sheet at the event for those that want to jam with the track (or tracks) Rob Bowen put(s) together. *My vote is for Rob to upload somewhere (Napster?) for everyone to check out. *Sounds like a cool idea to me. *It'll also avoid the 27-minute version of the Attitude Song. * LOL

Jemfest 2001 Info!!!

As of the time of this post, you can't get the JF2001 rate via online reservations.

I'm feverishly working on this. *I'll post as soon as I get that modified. *In the meantime (good Helmet album, BTW), you can call their 800 number to reserve rooms.

1-800-248-5955
Be sure to tell them you're with the Jemfest group. *Otherwise they're about $150/night. :-)

Helmet!

Why do all my favorite bands go away?

Supposedly Page Hamilton has a solo album coming out.

BTW - If your planning on flying, SouthWest has some good rates if you book way in advance. I found some flights from San Antoino to Austin w/ out stops for $99 each way.

Jemfest 2001 Info!!!

Great news! Thanks “dwarf”.

So… this thing is starting to come together. Once again I will offer my help. I’m good at lifting and making left over food disappear.

It also appears that I will have some room in the car for any Jemfest hitchhikers on I-10 between Houston and Florida.

Jemfest 2001 Info!!!

Great. *Now I'm a 6'1" Billy Barty impersonator. *LOL

Well, the online reservations thing didn't workout as I had expected, but it is still possible......via email. *Copy and paste the following info in an email:

Name:
Address:
Phone:
Arrival Date:
Departure Date:
C.C. (# and type) for guarantee:
Group Name:

Mail it to: * mmyers@bristolhotels.com

Unless you're overseas, I suggest you take 2.8 minutes and call them (1-800-248-5955). *Be sure to mention you're part of the "Jemfest Group" to get the great rate.

Also, remember- these are "double occupancy" rooms (i.e. two queen beds). *If you want to cut costs a bit, sharing a room is a good idea. *I'll start a new thread about room sharing. *
