Jemfest Activities?

hey i am just giving an opinion....

so do not kill me anyone.....

I was at both jemfests..... and yes the jams are fun... i thought the first one was alot better than the second year jam....

I think we should come up with a list of songs for people to learn.... so we all can play ... and not stand around and say well what can we play... ..

and nothing to radical... just ya average jam songs...
easy for everyone....
like you really got me...
2) maybe going down... (from jeff beck G3)
3)a simple one four five... pick a key.... a or e... whatever

you get the idea...

Definately. Maybe not a song list, because improvisation is a wonderful thing, but certainly setup a structure.

And if a few ppl know a tune, let'em jam it. No egos here.

The number one rule to a successful jam session is having a rough idea of what your going to play before you pick up the guitar. Be it a key, a groove or just a song.

I feel it will be important to have more stucture this year than last year. *Jemfest 2000 didn't go as smoothly as Jemfest 1999 as Rob mentioned. *

Perphaps we should keep the number of players down to a certain amount. *I believe we'll have a good amount of amps this year.

Maybe keep the jams to certain time restriction (10mins??) and allow maybe 4 people to play during a song. *I'd love to hear more song suggestions but you can never go wrong with a blues progression though. *

I can compile a sheet and maybe have sign-ups for those songs.

Then on one last song, anyone and everyone can get up for a huge 'Ultra Jam' with an hour version of a song of choice.

Jay, I was the same guy in the music store. No body could hear but me. Went and tried a Bogner Extacy the other day. I had to crank it to hear the way it sounded at volume. Got 3 offers to join bands. Accepted one. Metal/Fusion kind of thing. They have an Ivory guy with the rig from helll. He travels with 7 boards. First band I have been in, in 5 years. Should be a trip.

Moral to this long drawn out boring story. Let them hear you. No one will know what you can do unless you do.

I will be more than happy to sit back, look at a bunch of nice guitars, meet some of you, and listen to some good music....

Dave

PS - the bogner was INCREDIBLE, might aquire it. Never heard tone like that from a stock head.

The only reason I was any part of the jam last year was because Kevan forced an RG-ART on me. * *
If he passed me an RG-ART, I'd be afraid to touch it. I know for sure that I'd remove my belt.
