Jemfest Australia 2005 is under development

The first southern hemipshere Jemfest will be held in Melbourne, Australia early next year (poss. March).

I am currently looking into venues in Melbourne and would be interested in hearing from anybody who knows of a good venue. I am looking for a central venue with good travel links and of course with a stage and a bar!

I'm working on a demo of a bunch of songs - hypothetically, if one were to get on the bill, how long would one get to rock?

I try and give each artist from 45 mins to an hour (maybe a bit more for the headliner).

It all depends on how many artists we have and how much material they have etc. etc.

Just moved out here myself back in April from the UK.

I'm up in NSW if I can get there (bloody hell this country is big!!!) and maybe bring a few guitars along. I would love it.

There is a guy who has just joined jemsite (maccarocks)whos wanting to buy a guitar from me, who lives in melbourne and releases his own Vaiy/Satchy type albums - he might like to play.

Over how many days would the fest be? Also a venue close to good and cheap accomodation would be appreciated!

a quick update

Still looking into venues so March isnt going to be an option.

April was provisionally pencilled in but that is looking tough due to work commitments.

I dont want to clash with Jemfest USA so I am beginning to think it might be better to do it after perhaps in July.

Press (Australian Guitar mag and PBS FM (Fretnet)) are already on board as well as some commercial sponsors and of course some great bands
