Bob, Ricky asked if we could rent a MIDI in/MIDI out keyboard for use at the 'Fest. I reminded him we would be bringing the Alesis keyboard, which he looked up some info on and says will work fine. I realize this has nothing to do with your multi-track recording offer - it's just a reminder that a full-sized keyboard is coming and will be available. We'll keep an eye out for your next post as to what is still needed to see if we can help.

I will be bringing a Roland 72-key (full sized key)
MIDI controller
and stand. So that can be used if need be.

Hey y'all...
If I remember correctly, it was requested that certain (
power amp
...) items be rented locally last year...
Since they WEREN'T, that's the reason a Marshall head was powering the monitors...
If I also remember correctly, you could hear 'em just fine.

I apreciate the mics too Ricky...
I think that the only thing I'm coming up short on at this point is mic stands. It's hard for people flying to bring items like that. We can always rent, but I was trying to cut cost wherever possible.
I have a very busy week wiring my racks for live sound, organizing cables and building boxes. Have to make a trip to the electronics store today. It seems that I will be using my new console for the first time at Jemfest. I just haven't had time to install it in the studio and it is unlikely that I will have the time in the next two weeks.
On the recording front, I will be bringing a DAT machine. Recording the bands to multi-track is up in the air right now. I'll have to deal with that during the week. Ricky, Please feel free to do some research into that if you would like.

Oh Ryan, As I understand it, money was the main consideration in the decission to avoid rental last year. Money always sucks. That situation in mind, I just figured it was time to step it up. Though jemfest, as an organization has no bank account and donates all profits, I believe it will rally some success in the future. I figured we might as well put on the best showing we can this year, so I fired up the credit card and got some gear.
It's my gear, but the gracious artists of Jemfest is welcome to it.
Since the organizers have their hands more than full with other things, I just asked to have the sound responsability and they gave it to me. I don't think they like me. They just like my mixer.
God, I hope I am prepared in time.

Some new developments have brought us more gracious donations. The use of a direct-to-disc recording device. Also, some more PA gear. Scott's power amp will be very valuable in light of the extra speakers we now have to power. Thanks!
We still have some details to work out before we decide how much, if any renting we will do. The only thing I am unsure of is mic stands. They can be rented or bought in Orlando if need be.
There will be many people to thank for helping with gear.
Ricky, It's gonna' be so much fun again eh? I can't wait to hear the new tunes!
