Jemfest UK 2002 October 5th London

Thanks to everyone how made the last Jemfest UK 2001 a great event...

now it's time for...

JEMFEST UK 2002

Yes...finally it's back:

Date: Saturday October 5 th
Time: Midday-Midnight (Doors officially open at 3 pm)
Location: South Bank Student Union, London

Change of location this year, and it is better than last year!!
Early entry will be available to those people who register prior to the event and exhibitors at the guitar gallery are especially welcome.

First band is on at 3 pm and all event goers must clear out by 12.30 am (anyway you will have somewhere else to go-see below)

There is a bar in the venue which will be serving beers at student prices plus there should be some food available. There are some nearby food places too.

This year we are charging for entry and their are three categories:

£5 If you register before midnight on September 30th you will get a free raffle ticket for the draw and of course entry to Jemfest UK. You can pay by Paypal or cheque or cash. But you will only have registered if I receive the money before October 5th.

On the day
£5 Entry, no free raffle ticket.
£3 with valid current NUS card, no free raffle ticket

All profits from this year's Jemfest go to NSPCC (UK Registered Charity Number 216401) and MANF.
www.nspcc.org.uk
www.vai.com/MANF/manf.html

REGISTRATION
So to register:

Email me (simon@jemfest.com) the following:

Name
Address (and name and address of anybody you are bringing with you)

Guitars and/or gear you are bringing. It would help for organisation purposes if you include the serial numbers of your guitars.

Like last year the names and addresses will only be used for purposes of Jemfest, for example last year I used the addresses to post prizes to the winners.

There are no limits on numbers of people attending Jemfest UK this year.
Please try and register by September 30th. Sooner is better for me and my organisation!

ACCOMODATION
I am currently looking at getting us a group rate in a hotel near the venue.

TRAVEL
The venue is here:

The entrance to the union is in Keyworth St (under the arrow).

If you have any particular travel questions email me and I will tell you the best way to get from Heathrow, Gatwick etc. Kings Cross, Euston, Waterloo to the venue.
Are you flying? let me know

PARKING
Please email me if you want to bring your car as I will be able to get a few FREE parking places for people (provided you give me all the info South Bank Uni need). These places will be in a locked parking area with CCTV and security.

OTHER STUFF

PRE-JEMFEST EVENT
Friday night October 4th piss-up in the 'Intrepid Fox' in Soho, followed by blood shots all round in 'Garlic and Shots' and then a rock night club later too if you are up for it!. if you want to come I will email you directions-tell me when you send me your registration email.

POST-JEMFEST EVENT
If you havent had enough ROCK!! for one day then at 11.30-midnight we shall all be off to a fantastic rock night club in Soho called 'Gossips' which has a cheesy 80's rock and metal night-as featured in some previous UK jemjam piss-ups. The club closes at 3.30 am so there is plenty of time for rock, beer, and scantily clad chicks!

OTHER JEMFEST EVENTS
Before Jemfest there may well be a chance for Jemfest goers to visit some of the London area sights e.g. Windsor Castle, Legoland Windsor, London Eye etc.
After Jemfest on October 6th, if the weather is good I will be happy to organise the Jemfest Thames boat trip and walking sight-seeing tour (with visits to pubs).

CREW and HELPERS
I have already had some great help from Adrian Foden, Paul McCrone, Pete Davies, and Jerry Egerton.
If you want to help out on the day let me know, we need:
people to be on the door to sort out admission,
help Adrian with the guitar gallery,
people to help with stage set up and band change-overs,
raffle ticket and t-shirt sales,
you know the kind of thing!
If you are doing any of these things you wont miss any of the action!

There is still more stuff to be added to stay tuned and see you in October!!

So there you go, if I have missed or overlooked something then let me know.

oh and sorry for the delay-tell you about it over a beer

Best wishes

Simon

Anyone who fancies helping humping the gear around is more than welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully I will have an assistant on the day and you may even get to see my abysmal playing at some point!!!!

It should be large.....COOOOOL!

After several years abysmal failure to attend a JEMfest, I've got this one firmly in mind as being my first.

Providing that fate is kinder to me and mine this year, I should be there

Amen, Jono - hopefully, I'll be a bit more organised this year. Sounds like fun!

Which tube station is South Bank close to? London is another planet to me...

You know I'll be there.

You know I'll be happy to loan out all my gear again

You know I'll be happy to help out as well

Might also play if I can get the rest of the gathering of people currently known as my band to come down. hee hee!

And I'll see everyone down there and hopefully make a complete arse out of myself.

Coolness!

Sounds like a plan this.............

Jemfest 2002 UK :P

Just one question.
5 October. Isn't this like a fresher's week or something???
A lot of scared looking, drunk and trying to look cool 18 year olds???
Aah well........ maybe not.

I want to go, but will not know for sure for some time.
The second I find out - I'll make contact.

Cheers.

I'll be there ! In no way I should miss this one !!! I'll e-mail you soon, or maybe a little AIM tomorrow... Anyway, this year, JF UK will be my priority before work !!! You can prepare your sarcasms for the French performance in WC 2002, but as I'll bring my 90 HAM and PWH, I believe I diserve a little bit of respect !

Ready to help in any way, and maybe I'll play a little bit too, just to show that if our football team sucks, we still can do something with our fingers !!! talk to you soon ! (and I'll take days off before and after, so I believe you can count on me for the befores and afters )
