Cerealk: Tender Surrender is a great song to solo to as you can stick in all sorts of styles in there plus the backing track isn't that difficult if your band wanted to learn it. The FTLOG backing track is also a great progression to solo to.

PS could you list the songs that people are going to rendition solo to backing tracks?

Cheers James

I say go for The 3 off of the first G3 album. And then maybe ZZ Top's La Grange.. ( Ahom hom hom hom )

I think they're songs everyone knows and are all easy enough to play, so there's no " I shred better than you ego stuff and no-one feels out of their depth

I second that bit about the 3 songs off of the first G3 album. I'm dying to play "I'm Going Down" with someone.

I can also do vocals for Hey Joe or sumpin' if no one else wants that spot.

My ideas so far

Purple Haze-Jimi
Hey Joe-Jimi
La Grange-ZZ top
Tush-ZZ top

anybody want to do Liberty-Steve Vai?

I would be happy for people to join us (CEREAL KILLER) for solos in;
Hard to Handle-Otis Redding<---I have great idea for this (trust me!),
White Room-Cream,
a special instrumental written for jemsite CD,
some of our own material,
ummm...

there will be an opportunity for everybody to jam!

cheers

Simon

Ooh how about Satch's Big Bad Moon... plenty of soloing oportunity in that one and a simple blues riff for anyone who doesn't maybe want to solo?

I'll suggest Allman Brothers - Don't Love Me No More immediately followed by Not My Cross To Bear as they are played as part of the same song with Don't Love Me being the 2min widdle intro.

And Whippin' Post

Good thing about the Allmans is that they had 3 guitar players so their songs and solo's are often structured to accomodate this.

P.S. Si, I'll get the tunes off to you tonight as discussed.

My mind draws a complete utter blank...but britney spears, ricky martin and some heavy fast stuff by christine aguillera would be cool. Throw in a track by doom merchants backstreet boys, and everything'll be just fine...

I think some rock standards should definetly be up there, but unfortunately I can't think of any.

arse.

But I'm sure I'll come up with some ideas...

i was about to suggest some group improvisation (my favorite hobby) - but it might be more fun to do than to listen to.

There must be a cliche blues jam and a rock ending !
