JF2K2 Equipment List

Here is a basic list of our needs in the sound department. Note that the details are approximate and subject to change. There are many options available. It just depends on what we find. For example, the house speakers will likely be all-in-one-cab type like you see flying at the big shows, instead of individual low, mid and high cabs.

Many of these needs are already covered, but not noted below. This is, like I said, just a basic list to look at when you are considering what you can bring, donate or buy.

Note to potential corporate sponsors: Jemfest is rapidly becoming a high profile event and is a non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductable.

Mixing console:
-24/32 channel, 8-bus.
Snake:
-36 balanced lines.
Electronic cross-over:
-3 or 4 way.

Power amps:
-400W stereo for lows.
-200W stereo for mids.
-100W stereo for highs.
-2 Stereo amps for monitor mix.
Speakers:
-2 Bass Bins.
-2 Mid cabs.
-2 Horns or lenses.
-4 Passive, wedge type floor monitors.
Microphones and cables:
-2 Kick
-2 snare/hi-hat
-2 overhead
-4-6 toms
-4 guitar cab
-1 bass (and/or DI)
-2-4 vocal
FX and Processors:
-Reverb
-Reverb/delay
-2 stereo comp/limiters
-CD Player
-DAT

Lower Priority items:
-Lights and controller.
-Backdrop.
-On-stage Monitor mixer.
-8 input recording devise.
-Screaming Groupies.

I have 2 8-input recording units that are portable.

I have a Yamaha MD8 and a MOTU 828 audio interface that I use with CuBase VST or ProTools.

I can bring either, or both. They are small.

Jeffrey, We will have to discuss that. I think there are a couple systems like that available. I thought about bringing Pro tools, but I have limited HD space and there is so much music. Maybe one of your rigs will work out better.

8-tracks of audio at 16-bit resolution equals 40 megs per minute. That’s 2.4 gigs per hour. Chalk one up for analog tape.

Well I have a portable CD burner.. it's not like I can't burn it off between bands.

My laptop has a 20gb HD too, should be enough to get through each act.

I have a spare 80gig firewire drive if you need it.

Hmmm… Alright. Maybe we should try this recording thing. I know that Anthony may possibly have a recording rig too. One that will also dump wav files to a CD. Maybe we can like switch rigs between acts, or whenever one gets full and dump the files off at night while we jam and drink beer.

I guess it wouldn’t hurt to bring it.

At some point I will confirm this. Jay, when it’s confirmed and if you have space in the car, the drive would be appreciated.

I am still scrambling to get a confirmation on a nice big mixing desk… for free. When I clear that and a couple other things up, I’ll start e-mailing Y’all about more details.

Thanks.

Jay/Bob: I can dump off the files pretty fast, and with an 80gb external drive, we could probably get through just about the whole weekend.

My firewire card has two ports, so using Jay's drive would be NP. I could always pick up another one too.

Well, It looks like there will be a Jemfest Recording session then. I’ll bug you guys about confirming the bringing of the gadgets when we get closer.

In the mean time, everybody keep using this thread to post what gear you can bring to the fest.
