Jimfest ?!
I had the opportunity to bump into Jim Marshall of Marshall amplifiers today and took the opportunity to get a few things signed as little giveaways for Jemfest.
Jim was meeting players and chatting / signing things for people at a guitar fair in Manchester this weekend. I bumped into him at one of these things years ago (the silver anniversary series amp was out that year... I guess this makes it either '87 or '88 ?) Anyway, he's certainly aged an awful lot since then...... irrespective, he's still out there promoting his company and amps and it was nice to have a brief chat with him and get a few things signed.
So, I took along my Doyle book which he popped in an little personal note and signed (which was nice) and then we got to chatting, I told him I had a couple of old 70's Marshalls and he said
"that's no good to him whatsoever, I should immediately go and buy some new ones as he could do with the money!".
Classic British sense of humour - he's a sweet old guy.
More chats about the current reissues and TSLs and he then offered to sign a couple of things for Jemfest. I got two items signed.....
For Jemfest 2002 Orlando:- A Marshall Baseball cap!
This is a black cotton cap, the classic Marshall logo embroidered on the front and Jim signed the top of the peak in a Metallic Gold Marker pen.... " For JemFest Jim Marshall 2002"
For Jemfest 2002 London:- A Large poster , This is a shot of Jim stood between a JTM 45 plus matching 4x12 and a TSL2000 / 1960 Cab with a wall full of great old Heads in the background. Jim signed this poster... "With Best Wishes for JemFest... Jim Marshall 2002"
I'll get this framed up as a draw prize for London as it's a bit big and will prove a handfull to transport to Orlando!
That's it, mailme if you want fullsize pics.
If you're a Marshall fanboy and you're off to Jemfest, you'll be in with a chance!
