Official Jemfest 2004 USA Thread

Hey folks!

I'm sure you all have your plane tickets ready, hotel reservations booked, and guitars re-strung. Wha? You don't? Well, better get crackin'. I'll help you out with some links:

Travel:
www.travelocity.com
www.orbitz.com

Hotel:
We're at a NEW HOTEL this year: Holiday Inn- International Drive Resort. Here's the link to book your hotel room.
http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/...d&_GPC=JEM
This link will get you the $72/night group discount rate for the Jemfest rooms. Sure, you can find them cheaper online, but you'll be subject to the terms and conditions of wherever you get them from (cancellation fees, other fun fees), and you probably won't be close to the Jemfest rooms in the hotel. It's a really big hotel, so being close to the jam rooms would certainly be worth the $6 you save going somewhere else to book the room. Your call.

The hotel is at one end of International Drive. I-Drive is packed with restaurants, bars, shops, malls and other places to eat, dine and shop. There's a trolley that runs up and down the street, so you don't have to worry about driving.
And yes- there's a Hooters right around the corner. :-)

Artists & Schedule:
How about this lineup-

Friday, May 21, 2004
7:00PM- Mike Martin
8:00PM- Fernando Pareta (all the way from Argentina!!!)
9:00PM- Course Of Evolution
10:00PM- Bill Peck

Saturday, May 22, 2004
7:00PM- Tony Smotherman
8:00PM- Rob Balducci
9:00PM- Strange Fiction featuring Eric Sands
10:00PM- Jemfest Jam
(Of course the schedule could change because weather sucks, grandparents pass on, and flat tires happen every day)

Here's the best part: Admission is FREE! FREE! FREE!
We respectfully ask for donations at the door.

EVERY PENNY OF PROCEEDS GOES TO STEVE VAI'S "MAKE A NOISE FOUNDATION". The Jemfest staff is *not* paid in anyway, and the artists are gracious enough to donate their time and talent to this incredible event.

Where else are you going to get 7 *unreal* artists in front of you for free?

You need more? How about the Jemfest Jam on Saturday night! Yes- you can get up on stage with the artists and rip out a song or two. Try that at a Britney show!

The entire event will be recorded, with digital audio and digital video for release on DVD later on. Gabe's almost ready to release the first Jemfest DVD (with years 1999 thru 2002). I've seen some previews; it's frickin' awesome.

So you say you can't make it down to Orlando this year? That's ok- we do a full webcast of the entire show....both nights! We will be webcasting from 7PM until Midnight on each night...LIVE...audio and video together...direct to your computer! No server crashes this year either. :-)

What you'll not see on the webcast are all the "room jams" that happen thru the weekend. It's kinda kooky when you're crankin' out some songs in your room with your buddy and you hear Rob Balducci knock on your door, "Mind if I join you guys?". *THAT'S* as fun as it gets.

So, get your reservations done, and get down to Jemfest this year. If you don't have a fantastic time, you get your admission refunded. :-)

If you need any other information, please feel free to contact me.
I hope to see you all soon!

WOW! Another successful Jemfest. This year was tough due to the new location, but it came off nicely.

I want to thank all the bands that played this year and everyone who helped out with the fest - moving gear and such.

Special thanks to Paul at Hoshino for getting us the VSBL Guitar for raffle and the catalogs. Thanks to Mikey for getting us one of Steve's lasher necks and signed posters for raffle, not to mention the Steve and Billy guitar pics.

Super thanks to Rich Harris at Ibanez Rules and Brian Calvert at Project Guitar for sponsoring us. It was great to see you guys again.

Kevan is the man who pulled together most of Jemfest. Don't know what we'd do without him. Bill ran the sound and did one hell of a job. Plus he flew his own plane to Jemfest. How cool is that? Iain (see below).

Thanks to all the people who showed up. Everyone left with a smile on their face and free stuff in their hands.

To those who didn't show up at Jemfest. You missed out on what I can say was the most incredible show to date. I can't say enough about how wonderful the talent was and how well they performed. If you missed it, you missed much more than music - you missed out on the jams, the guitar gallery, raffles, giveaways, and just hanging out with cool people.

Videos - We do have a webcam shot video online at Jemfest.com now. Thanks to Iain for pulling this one off. We couldn't get a live feed due to some issue with the Hotel's ISP contract, but Iain made sure ya'll got it immediately after the performance was complete. Iain and his wife did a kick ass job at Jemfest and spent many hours battling with the dumbasses at the ISP. Iain has such a great webcam setup and all the ****ing jerks at the ISP needed to do was open a port for us to use but they were too anal. Rob's performance will not be shown on Jemfest.com in its entirety. SORRY! You had to be there to see it. We will have short teaser clips (15-20sec) so you can get a feel of how incredible the new album is going to be.

T-shirts - There are a few Jemfest 2004 USA T-shirts left in L, XL, and 2XL for those interested. T-shirts are $15 each and any other previous year Jemfest shirt we might have lying around are now at $10 each. If you buy any 3 shirts, you get 1 shirt (non-2004) for free. As usual, I'll throw in extra goodies into each order while supplies last. Just contact me from the Jemfest.com website or PM me from this forum. Buyer will pay shipping. I'll do paypal.

Website - I just got back about 2AM this morning to Houston. I had to go to work this morning (1421 e-mails in my mailbox) but when I get home I'll update the site with pictures and possibly some additional up close video clips. Maybe even one of Rob's? Maybe. Keep checking the main site for updates.

I'll post up here with updates.

Though the month of May has dealt me an impossible schedule for the past two years in a row, my memories of Jemfest are very fond. What a great atmosphere! Having been there and then missed two years, I can truly say that, If you don't get there, you are missing a lot.

This emoticon pretty much sums up my feelings.

Man, attending Jemfest is on my list-of-things-to-do-before-I-die...unfortunately I'm always still in school when it's put on and so I can't get down there to see it.
