Suggestion for Jemfest 2003?

If I was in charge, we would rent a small tropical island and do it on the beach... by a giant fire... all wearing funny hats. We could drink until we pissed ourselves and jam until all the wildlife left the island. But hey, that's just me.

:biggrin:

Suggestion for Jemfest 2003?

ok, so i don't log on very often and i'm just now reading this post, but here's a thought (and just A thought). *everyone's concerns are ligitimate concerns. *i guess the real question would be Where
Does Jemfest Go From Here or How Can We Make It Bigger or Do We Want To Make It Bigger? *Keeping it a solo event would be just fine, but where do you wanna go with the event. *Hooking up with a more publicized (i'm usually good at spellingg) event would allow, possibly, Jemfest to move outside the circle. *Does this ruin the meaning of Christmas, maybe, probably, who knows. *what it could become is the perfect storm, a collaboration of Two Events, One City (that might just be the tour name). *now it becomes a bigger revenue event for the hosting city and creates a draw such that
other cities want to become involved, so each year it's a different city with the acts getting bigger and bigger. *but Jemfest still remains a seperate event. *we can talk 'bout it' till we're blue in the face but you'd really have to do a test market to see if it is worth pursuing. *again, where do you wanna go?

Suggestion for Jemfest 2003?

From a personal perspective I say keep it small. From a helping MANF and showcase potentual for the artists I say make it big. Either way it'll be a gas. I hope you all come.

Suggestion for Jemfest 2003?

I think that JEMfest is a pretty good formula as it is. *There a few things we enjoy

* a remarkably close relationship with SSV and Rich Pike
* a remarkably close relationship with Hoshino/Ibanez
* a group size small enough to still book into an average hotel

By making it bigger we would possibly get more exposure, but we would likely lose the good things we have. *For instance, no one can guarantee that we'll get any more of the sweet goodies for raffle just because the event gets bigger. *What you do end up having is too many fans. *It's like what happens at a concert when they let the after-party get too big. *10 people backstage is great, you get to meet the stars and hang and generally be friendly. *20 and it starts getting rude. *30 is a mob. *Let's keep our little party a party and not a mob.

Suggestion for Jemfest 2003?

i was thinking along jeffrey's lines... *somewhere in the midwest!! *like, st louis, memphis, kansas city, or even dallas, its pretty central . *

but with that list kevan put together, i see his argument well, and besides, half the fun for me is just getting to orlando and back in one piece. *although i think jay would disagree with me on that one :loco:. *

kennedy space center?? *i wanted to see that last year, as it was only 45 minutes away i think. *being a friend and all, and an aspiring astronomer, might i tag along on your adventure, kevan? *8-)

Suggestion for Jemfest 2003?

Well as for the size option there's numerous convention centers available if the need ever arose. For now I'm still trying to get the friggin Cable/DSL into the meeting room for this year. But seriously as stated before there's ton's of stuff to do in and around Orlando.

If and I'm going out on a big limb here, If there is a launch at the space center that weekend I'll see about getting an advanced car pass. That gets visitors right up to the VAB Assembly Building and Reporters area. (yes I have connections kinda) But I need to warn everyone security is double tight and expect to be searched for that if it happens), not to mention this would be a single car pass so the seating would be extremely limited.

Florida has a lot to offer up in this area, airboat rides for one. The international drive just added a new attraction called Sky sailing. Think Parachute jumping practice wind tunnel without the parachute! Yeah just walkin and fly nothing to it

Otherwise I'm pretty stoked, just about to go into production cutting bodys that will be up for sale at a special Jemfest only Price and available at the show if anyone wants to start a project guitar. These will not be available on-line at the prices in the Festival.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *Just another reason to get your bunn's down here this year!
