** THE FINISHED PRODUCT ** (56k DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT) High Res pics inside
Ok here it is, shes done... My first relic job I ever did, I learned a heapful on this project and I am going to do another one with LESS WEAR lol..
Hope ya guys like the pics. I tried my best to capture the subtle details lost in my previous pictures. You will see wear on everything but the frets. Nothing went unturned.
Some subtle details I researched and tryed to mimic:
Knobs, Switch tip, and Pickup Covers, not just cream or mint but really worn
Bridge actually has dirt and grime in spots it would normally be
Rust marks around the screws and switch on pickguard
Knobs slightly worn over
Pickguard worn more around the strings then under them
Neck worn but is 100% smooth and unaltered from its original feel
etc etc..
Thanks for any comments or critisism, I have around $90 invested in this project and its by far the coolest thing I have done. Was alot of fun, and gets great responses from everyone when I take it out. Fooled about 9 people who thought it was the "Blackie" strat when I took it to GC to show the salesman who were interested in the project.

Looks great man, but you have to spend some extra money and get split post tuners to finish it off.

i think it's mostly a great job, but to me the paint wear areas look a little too recent. like, if that wear were really caused by the friction of a forearm, there'd be more transition.
anyway, that's me being picky. good job!

Re: ** THE FINISHED PRODUCT ** (56k DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT) High Res pics inside
Cool. I have to agree with damo7v though, the paint wear seems the weak part. For instance, the paint wear goes _under_ the pick guard. I _think_ real paint wear would not go under the pick guard, or even right up to it. it would stop short of it, as whatever is wearing the paint (guy's got a brillo pad for a wristwatch?) would be deflected by the guard and not be able to get into that corner unless deliberately attempting to do so. And is it really common to have _that_ much paint wear? It seems maybe too excessive to be realistic.
But, I don't know what the heck I'm talking about. And the rest looks believable enough, and if you like it, and how it plays, then more power to ya.
