Dear god...

I dunno...is it cute as heck, or vaguely disturbing? I fear that it's both.

The eyes give it away; she's been here before. Very sinister.

Yeah my "issue" with it is that I don't know how much of it is inner talent manifesting and how much is parental pressure. Having worked with little children exclusively over the last year, I know how easily they can be manipulated via external actions, rather than just trusting them to do their own thing.

And children can be so eager to please adults if that's the way they're given love and attention, or if that's withheld as a means of motivation.

She appears to have that "look" that I've come to recognise - the look of "I'm doing this for the adults" but I've only got fourteen years experience, what do I know?

Right, you know Jack and his friend. My wife's Korean (same ancestry as the little Mo Kin in the clip), and whenever we visit her sister (and the three little kids), it strikes me how much children are loved and pampered over there. I agree that to a certain degree there is some pressure on kids to excell (especially in a country where your education is more important than money or talent when it comes to getting a fine job), but did it ever occur to you that Korea (+ Japan and the rest of South-East Asia, for that matter) may be just more kid-friendly ?

We can walk into the fanciest restaurants of Seoul, and not once will we be warned or forbidden to enter because we're bringing along a three-year-old. I've had other (less positive, that is) experiences in the US and Europe (New York and Paris being the worst).
