38 Special

How cool is this video. These guys are as classic as rock and roll itself. This my friends is how good old rock music is played. This song, 'Hold on Loosely' 'probably' gets as much air play as any other song from any band. These guys are in the realm AC/DC, The Stones, Aerosmith, etc. perhaps the lower end of the realm, but from the same school of rock with a classic, longevity sound. This song was, is and will be great forever.

I never saw this video before. I noticed a few things i never knew about these guys. The have 2 drummers. I probably did know that once, but forgot it. 3 guitar players! The main riff is played with an upstroke of the pick. They sound as good live as on the 'album'.

Music has been through alot of changes over the years. And as noodly guitar enthusiast, we can miss out on learning a thing or two from the pioneers that give us our sound and tone we search for today. Still, when I demo a guitar or amp, I ask myself, "Can it do 38 Special?" hehe

We all want to make music that has mass appeal, or at least we should. The average person dig the heck out of this song. Ask yourself why? Then write a song that 'feels' the same.

Later, Darin

Re: 38 Special

North FL put out quite a few clasic bands, especially southern rock: Skynyrd and Blackfoot come to mind first.

Alot of talent in that band. I saw them years ago in Jacksonville (hometown gig for them) with the one and only Terrible Ted opening the show. That was a great show.
