7-string proggy progtimes: "Just One Thing"

Here's a song I just uploaded. I've taken a few stabs at recording this one over the years but here's the latest and closest to what I hear in my head when I think of the song.

http://peterhodgson.bandcamp.com/track/just-one-thing

All electric guitars are a Buddy Blaze Sevenator 7-string prototype with Seymour Duncan Full Shred and '59 humbuckers.

All acoustics are a Taylor Baritone 8-string.

The amp is a Marshall DSL50.

Like most of my songs, this one started with lyrics and a vocal melody but my singing sucks so I adapted it as a guitar instrumental.

Petie, I can't really check this out from work, but I'll try to give it a listen tonight as I think I remember liking your stuff in the past. That said... When did you make the switch to seven strings? I thought you were more of a 6 string guy, but admittedly I'm WAY out of the loop over here.

Hey Drew! I've been a seven-string-slinger since about 2003 or 2004 (I can't quite remember exactly). I have four 7-strings: a UV777BK, an RG7620, an RG7420, and my Blaze prototype. Think Kramer Nightswan but with 7 strings and a different pickup configuration and you're part way there.

Very cool Petie. I like the breakdown starting at 4:00. It's like it goes from Vai before then, into DT. Very cool.

edit: grammar... lol

Thanks wilch! The funny thing here is that it's not influenced by Vai at all, but you just can't hide those subliminal Vai-isms coming through!
