A couple very short clips with Lollar Imperial humbuckers.
I've never quite understood what makes any pickups worth $300 a pair. I mean they're just magnets and wire right? Then I put Lollar Imperials in a couple guitars and now I know.
I recorded the first one a couple weeks ago and it's been posted elsewhere so you may have heard it. The second one is a different guitar. I recorded it last night about an hour after the guitar was finished.

My God, those pickups are like crystal clear. They are just so bright and clear its untrue. Very nice sounds indeed. Worth the price? Probably after hearing that!

Very nice sounding indeed!
What guitars and pickups did you use on those clips?

The guitars are both the Soloway Swan long scale 6 strings that we build. We have a banner ad at the top of the page, but if you're interested, here's a direct link to our site
www.solowayguitars.com
The first clip was done with a koa/ash model and the second was koa/mahogany. The scale length on both is 27 inches.
The pickups are made by a small boutique builder by the name of Jason Lollar. He's best known for his P90 type pickups, but I love his humbuckers. I think they have the most natural sound I've ever heard. Here's a link to his site as well.

Thanks for the answers! I know of your guitars, should have specified that. Sorry.
I thought that there were two different guitars and probably two different wood combinations - as you said. I like the sound in the first clip, but the second also has it's charm, in terms of sounds. Good playing too!
Did you use the same Lollar model pickup for both clips as well?

The only difference in the pickups is that the second one has covers while the first one was open.
These guitars are giving me a really good lesson on the specific difference that various woods can make. They're part of a series of four guitars that we're building. All have koa tops cut from the same batch of wood. The backs are ash, mahogany, and a pair in black limba (korina). The pickups and the other hardware are the same, so any significant difference have to come from the body wood. The mahogany is definitely a little warmer than ash while the ash is a little more detailed. The limba guitars will be ready on August 14 and I'll be really intrigued to hear what differences those have.

Ah! Nice to know! Yes, the difference is real. Now you just got me excited about your other guitars!
Those clips should be a part of the tone guide on Jemsite.

Glad you like them. Here's another that I did with the koa/mahogany Swan yesterday. You'll probably recognize the melody.
