Adam Lambert???

Anybody following this Adam Lambert on Amer. Idol ? I saw him first time the other night doing whole lotta love, damn, now I know why all the hype. Velvet Revolver needs a new singer!!!

Yes. I have been following Adam from the auditions on Idol. He first got my attention with his amazing forsetto in the group 'Hollywood' stages, and then in the following episode his renditon of 'Believe' by Cher. He does an excellent vocal ad-lib at the end of the rendition which almost made me cry. He has amazing control and in a fine example of a very good trained singer.

He has one of, if not the, best voices I have ever heard in my life.

Watch this whole video. But please pay close attention to his singing from 2.00 in to the tune. 2.40 demos some brilliant control and I think that every musician should listen to good singers like this.

People bag on him for being too over the top. I dont think that he is to be honest, perhaps its becuase I'm used to listening to Yngiwe, David Lee Roth - and the whole list of 'OTT' bands. But I think Adam is a real tallent that you dont see very often.

I heard his "Whole Lotta Love," and lets face it, once you step into Robert Plant's territory your either very confident or your an idiot. He did a very good job. He can hit all the notes and has great control. However, I don't like his vocal tone at all, and his image is annoying, but I realize that is all preferance. If he gets a little more down to earth and he can get a little more blues in his tone I'll love his singing. Don't think I'm saying he can't sing, 'cause that7s exactly the pposite just a few things I'm not so keen on.

As far as I know on Idol only soul and R&B singers have ever been so good. Most of the rock singers are just blah. And only a few have the true talent. This guy is the first Rock singer to actually have the ability to just let it out on that show.

I read somewhere that officially he is called a countertenor, whatever that is. I guess he can sing in the higher registers unlike most vocalists.??

I actually really like this guy. He's got some pipes, for sure, and I was glad to see Idol experimenting with a full-on band situation.

Anyone notice the EBMM Petrucci that guitarist was playing?
