Anyone seen a video of SV at GIT in 1984

Searching on Winmx just come across a file called

Steve Vai - Instruction '84 (1h58m32s) - Guitar Clinic In GIT.mpg

It's pretty big as it's 2 hours long (952 megs)

Anyone seen it? Know what the quality/content's like?

Sounds very interesting......

I'll see if I can get it.

At the moment I've not seen a complete copy posted (in fact a couple of people only appear to have a few megs of it.

I've no doubt it'll turn up complete over the next few weeks - I'll post again here if/when I get it.

Anyone on the forum got it?

Yeah, I went to GIT and they save all the performaces on tape for their library. I saw this performace and many others in their library.

(Just having access to the library was worth the tuition to be honest with you. That and the live performaces is where I learned the most. (The classes were mundane, I felt.)

Anyway, I think this performace was just as his Flex- able album came out. He was selling it at the show. He performed The Attitude Song and Viv Woman I think? And he talked a lot to the students and took questions. I still remember some parts.

1) He talked for a while about playing 10 hours a day at Berklee. ( Crowd goes, "Wow!!" )

2) He took Questions and someone asked him how old he was and he said "25". The crowd was stunned and went, "Wow" . I think eveyone thought he was way older than that by the way he played and acted.

I would love to get a copy myself. Email me if anyone can get it.

Hi guys i have a copy on tape, the sound is ok but the picture is pretty bad. He talks about how when he was in alcatrazz and had to learn all of yngwie's stuff he tapped it instead of picking it. Its also got stu hamm on bass but i am not sure about the drummer.

I don't have the technology to put it on the computer but if anyone has and lives near west london we could sort somthing out.

I also have a set of string Vai used to record Fire Garden, it says on it to whom it may concern these are a set of strings i used on the fire garden record, signed steve vai 1996. I know i knwo how sad but i was given them alsong with 3 picture discs a vid of lots of interviews and stuff from MTV, compete headbangers ball with him hosting, all interviews around the P&W eara.

I've now got a copy of the GIT video as mpegs (721 and 500 megs!!!).

It's about 2 hours long and the quality's poor but it's very watchable and entertaining.

There are two sets which he plays similar stuff.

The line up's Chris Fraser, Stu Hamm and SV

It's just before he recorded with Alcatrazz and he talks a lot about Yngwie and what his intentions for Alcatrazz were. He's also doing the hard sell on Flexable too.

He does a few Flexable tunes (Call It Sleep and a couple of others), God Blessed Video ('A idea I might use in Alcatrazz') and an early version of Answers and The Riddle off Passion And Warfare. He also does one track I've not heard before (can't remember what it's called)

It's very good if you're a fan of early Vai (pre DLR) but if not, you'll probably want to give it a miss.

I have that on video cassette. Lousy copy though. Not sure if the original will be much better seeing as how many hands it has passed through. Cool video though!
