Re: Can anybody play eugene's trick bag?

Id guess *perhaps* its Jason Becker...

Becker did a VERY cool cover of '5th caprice for the hot licks vid's

Just an idea

Re: Can anybody play eugene's trick bag?

Hey guys I just got back from holiday... Anyway Trick bag is influenced by 5th caprice. but it's in no way the same as it is. The part that I find tricky, the arps that is, is not present in 5th caprice for example. I listened a lot to Paganini

I didn't bring my guitar to holiday so I'll be restsrting! And the damn school has started!

Re: Can anybody play eugene's trick bag?

I notice at certin parts like in the beginning the arpegios you can sweep and alternate pick...I practice diatonic arpegios in d minor for sweeps

here are some diatonics arps for sweeping

e---------2-5-2------------------3-7-3----------------
b-------3-------3--------------5-------5---------------
g-----2-----------2----------4-----------4--------------
d---4---------------4------5---------------5------------
a-5-------------------5-7--------------------7---------
E------------------------------------------------------
Theres alot more put its like 3 in the morning and my fingers hurt and I am tired

Re: Can anybody play eugene's trick bag?

I can play it at about 90%. I pick it .... I used Amazing Slow Downer to here it more accurately, and even Vai screws up here and there if you pay attention. Playing it over and over to a metronome everyday for hours is the only way that i could get as close as i did.

Later, Jeremy

Re: Can anybody play eugene's trick bag?

I play it all alt. picked, been learnin it a couple of weeks and got it up to 80/90% of the actual speed Vai plays it. It's a hell of a warmup piece and great as a guitar solo in a show.
