Can anybody remove vocals from an mp3


My daughters dance review is tomorrow and they want the show to open with Whitney Houstons version of the Star Spangled banner sung by a local singer but I cant find the kareokee version of the song. I have the song on cd and mp3 format if someone can pull it off for me an quickly. Thanks in advance, Billy

I just saw this thread. How did it go?
I did use Sound Forge for removing vocals before. I think it worked 'ok'. How it works I believe is that, the vocal are usually dead center. The music is all over the panned spectrum. So it removes everything right down the center. Usually removing most of the vocals. You then get a track that you may need to EQ to clean up and dress up.

theres a free bit of kit called vogen and again this removes the central part of the track but vocals are not always dead center so you normaly still get a bit of vocal on the track. it works okay better on some tracks than others. but its free, i think.

It went well! We ended up just using an instrumental version and she sang to that.
