Cool Shred Video featuring Stephen Ross

Here is a video demonstrating some of my arpeggio techniques and picking runs.

Back in the 90's when I recorded a CD called Midnight Drive for Shrapnel Records, this style of playing wasn't as evolved as today. Greg Howe, Richie Kotzen, the great Jason Becker and Paul Gilbert all contributed a great deal to incorporating arpeggios and string skipping runs into their styles.

My CD came out a little after Richie Kotzen's, in fact, Richie and I were writing some music together and almost recorded a CD together for Mike Varney, president of Shrapnel Records.

My new CD is with a band called Rogosonic which can be purchased from my website, http://www.stephenross.com. It also features the shredding guitar of Ron Cannella.

Here is the video link - http://youtube.com/watch?v=hVfNDac2vBc

Support the arts and purchase one. I do it all the time, especially if it is guitar music.

Stephen

Very good. You don't usually see people shredding on Gibsons like that.

Greg gets better every time I hear him. Richie is, currently, more into singing but still shreds his ass off.

Another great guitarist who I know and heard play at the Namm show last year is Guthrie Govan. Probably some of the best playing I have ever heard.

Bumblefoot is also a real talent.

stephen, you wouldn't happen to be in the atlanta area would you (i noticed on your site that rusty cooley is playing on the album, and i remember him being in atlanta)? i'm moving there very soon and it'd be cool to set up some lessons or something.

No, I am located in New Jersey. I think Rusty is from Texas.

I saw your video on youtube.com. Have you ever heard of a 9th or a 13th?. Color those tones a bit my boy!! There is already one Jason Becker and he would be pretty hard to compete with.
