Dear Steve Vai...

Please never wear these shorts again.

However you do get to see Vai's real number 1.

Re: Dear Steve Vai...

nice one! i have the NYC Halloween show from the same tour, but i never saw that video. Steve was 22 there - could that guy ever NOT play? jeez!

I'm not sure the X2N dates back to 1982, does it? It does have the same physical characteristics, for sure.

I wonder if steve looks at those shorts and bows his head in embarrassment

Re: Dear Steve Vai...

If I remember from the Dimarzio website the X2N dates back to '79. Don't quote me on that though.

Re: Dear Steve Vai...

Yes, that is an X2N. He had one in his sticker Strat. I do remember his describing it as a nice "icepick to the forehead" sound, albiet in a good way.

Re: Dear Steve Vai...

Yeah, I love that pickup. A bit much for an alder body IMHO. It works great in mahogany though!

I think I recently saw a picture of Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas wearing the same exact outfit.

On the contrary, quite the opposite! He had a lot of women in those shorts and has consequently had them framed

He was going to hang them over the fireplace mantle, but Pia wasn't having it so they now respectfully adorn a spot on the wall in the mothership
