Ok here for the translation of the interviewer (guess that's what he calls himself ) questions :

(1) What's the first thing you learned to play on the guitar ?

(2) What's your first composition ? {good question after the first one}

(3) Please impress me {with a 1 inch action }

(4) You want to hit on a girl what do you play ? {can it get more stupid than this when you're talking to an adult ... ?}

(5) Please give us a world tour with your guitar { }

(6) Play the song that resumes your life {All Right .... }

(7) Play the song you play at your place to please yourself ...

( 8 ) Play a song to make somebody cry

(9) Play a song you want to dedicate to somebody

(10) You're in a shop and everybody's looking at you, what do you play ?

(11) What works everytime in a party or Karaoke party ?

(12) Play the most rubbish thing you know

(13) Do you know the song of the century, if yes, play it {Steve getting really upset here }

(14) Please something for the readers of our magazine ... {euh no, that's enough }

No really, we live in a sad world ... hope this guy who does the interview doesn't write books in his spare time ....

Well, so long ...

wow, that's hilariously sad. The interviewer is such an idiot, and Vai played it cool till the end. Kudo's to Vai for being so cool for such a dumb situation to be in.

This was hilarious, this is a valuable piece of rock guitar history! I love "Steve's" version of Bobby Brown.

"You're in a shop and everybody's looking at you, what do you play"

*Steve plays Smoke On The Water*

Wow Steve really has patience...I wouldn't even reach the fourth question...

What kind of magazine is that? Do they write as bad as they interview...

It was funny to hear Himself like this though :P

I hope that wasn't a guitar magazine, because they should know more about what kind of guitar to give him than that. It almost seems like they're trying to make him look bad for some reason.

And the interviewer comes off sounding like one of those crappy e-mail surveys that get forwarded around forever.

It was actually for a guitar magazine, I think, called "Guitar Part". Apparently, they give a CD with it with those kind of recordings along with the magazine. They did they same thing, same questions with Satriani and Rondat also, but I was, as yet unable to track down the files on the web ...

So yes, they ARE doig those kind of interviews for a living and charging people to buy their magazine ...

Well would have been interesting to see how Satch "answered" those questions

If somebody finds those files, bring'em up !

That thing Steve says after "Play something to make someone cry" is actually pretty darn neat.

Er..it's either that or Something to dedicate to someone

I'm very interested how Satriani did in this 'interview', I mean, Steve is more of a character to me and Satriani is just a guitarist. Joe is more closed, it seems to me.

An interview like this one can really reveal a lot about someones character.

So, please find it! :P

The bit he plays after the "impress me" riffs sounds a lot like Melissa's Garden.

Otherwise that interview and the interviewer are crap.

Poor Steve

LOL! While I'm reading this back; something comes up in me, it'll be a hell of a job finding stuff from that magazine, because who's gonna buy that rubbish!

If you listen carefully (or with headphones, as I did,) you can hear it being cut out when the interpretter translates. Actually, it may be the interviewer that states the question again in English since I believe I heard him through in an English statement here and there.

"You've most unequivocally have the wrong guy for this ****in' interview."

BTW...the sond he dedicates to someone is dedicated to George Harrison if you weren't able to hear it.

Edit: To be honest, I think an interview of this type could be really cool if it was done properly. Hearing Vai freely improvise and play sort of "genres-by-request" is kind of interesting.

And am I the only one that kind of digs Hot Chocolate?

Re: Funny Vai accoustic interview from french magazine

Has anyone figured out the chords to that George Harrison dedication? I think I've got the first two, they go something like this...

Code:
E-0-----0
B-0-----0
G-6-----8
D-7-----9
A-0-----0
E-x-----x

Re: Funny Vai accoustic interview from french magazine

Now that was interesting. Even with a guitar that has terrible terrible action, he's still better than me. But then, I'm not much of an acoustic player. I liked that, though. It definitely had it's funny points.
