Funny Vai accoustic interview from french magazine
Steve Vai
interviewed by a french
guitar mag
and asked to perform various stuff on an accoustic guitar, that, well, didn't seem to really fit him, must have changed him from Evo ...

Some bad playing there......
(why did he complain the action was half an inch high?)
He sounds like he hated to give that interview.....
Must be because of the French
edit: I just realised that half an inch is a centimeter......brain was malfuctioning.....that is way too high indeed.

I think he handles it pretty well.
I would´ve smashed the guitar on the
interviewer´s head. They should´ve made some research...
i like that George Harrison bit he played.
also...does he understand french?
coz I didn´t hear an interpreter and he responded
as if he imediately understood.
antway thanks for the link it was cool to listen too.

I think if that had gone on for another 10 mins the interviewer would have been wearing the guitar!

talk about bringing new meaning to "shut up and play yer guitar!"
That interviewer is a real jerk IMO. Steve clearly doesn't want to do what he's doing....he should have got that after steve said the action was too high.

Talk about a dumb interviewer. I mean really, asking Steve "so, what song would you play to check out a guitar in a store before you buy it ?" LOL ... the questions were so amazingly stupid, I actually admire Steve's coolness on this. Others may just have walked out of the room !

No worries, I'll do that as soon as I get some time off from work. But from what I remember there were things like
"Play something to impress me"
"What would you play to hit on a girl"
and other highly intelligent questions to ask a virtuoso ... rumors has it, Steve really walked out of the room pissed ... which I could easily understand !

LOL. That interviewer was horendous. The voices are really low here but i made out the part where Steve asked about the and not wanting it on the magazine's CD. ROTF.
Thanks in advance for the translation... i wonder if the interviewer spoke English and understood Vai... it seems like he had a few questions that were inappropriate for the situation yet he didn't change them... glen

What a cold TURD. I bet Steve was kicking himself in the arse over taking that interview. Wonder whose idea it was? Steve sounded pissed at the end. Yet he kept his cool and didn't step out of line.
There will be some "mafia" action on acquiring that interview.

Incredible how some people can get to that level of supidity. I'm sorry for Vai having to go though something like this...I'm impressed that he managed to be so cool about it, cause I'd have presented the guitar to the interviewrs face
Someone asked though if Vai could understand french....I'm not sure but I'm almost certain that they edited the audio so that the answers would come right after the questions, thus giving the impression that he did understand. I'm not saying he can't though

Yes I feel for Steve here too. I hate it when someone hands you a guitar with impossible action and says "play something".
However, Steve should prolly bring his own axe to any interview. I'm sure a Euphoria would've sufficed.
