Hi My Name is JimmyJ and im an Addict...[Time for More Pickups.....}
Hey all!
yes, im an addict.
Well i was on holiday in sydney last week and i was in a music store and something grabbed my attention, i had a spare 3 ply fender guard at home and wanted to do something with it.
I spotted these and had always been interested in them as they are the same as the eric clapton reissue pickups.
They are Fender Vintage
Noiseless pickups
, they come in a set of 3 and also come with 2x 1meg pots and 1 500k pot, i didnt like the idea of changing my pots so i left my std 250k`s in the guard and just installed the pickups
Im certainly getting better at installing pickups and doing the wiring, i think ive done it more times than ive played this guitar....
the pickups/guard i replaced had a Dimarzio HS2 neck, HS3 mid and Chopper in the bridge, i love the combo but for
classic strat
sounds it didnt quite cut it.
anyways here is my final creation, i think it looks much better now
and close up
now...how do they sound, well its currently 2:42 am and ive realy only played them through my xt live and headphones at this stage and i must say, my guitar sounds very hendrix/john frusciante/srv/twangy strat. moreso than it did before, i did some A/Bing with my lace sensor strat and they are really very similar except this guitar has more bottom and a smidge less top end than the lace sensors.
anyways, expect a video soon!
Cheers
Jim

Re: Hi My Name is JimmyJ and im an Addict...[Time for More Pickups.....}
awesome!
Hey Jimmy, I'll bet those pickups came with the larger pot values to compensate for the slightly cut higher end.
Still, I'd like to know how you like the
Lace Sensors
vs the noisless pickups.
I've heard too many people compare the LS to sounding to "humbucker-ish"

I think those sound pickups are great, I have them in Strat, and tried other strats, but this setup I thought had better tone then others without the noisless pickups.
Have Fun... and great job!

neat combination hehe
Anyway,surname Jerkovic is pretty common 'round here.
I bet I know at least few Jerkovic's throughout my life..
It's more common for Dalmatia and these more southern parts of Croatia than other parts.
A lot of Croats live in Australia because many of them were forced to leave the country,either because of political (communist regime) or economical(huge economy crisis during and after the world war II) reasons.
I also have family down there in Australia - they live in Sydney.
