I CHALLENGE you all! What about a joint effort to create an outrageous JemSite piece?

Dear fellow musicians and Ibanez-adepts,

I suppose most of you know the "(We're) Stars" effort by hardrock singers and guitarists for third-world countries years ago. (I believe it was Live-Aid if I remember well)

Now, and if we'd do a similar thing here on JemSite?? First we agree on a few riffs, and create a piece with some nice atmospheres. Then a volunteer, or a few, amongst us (with the necessary equipment at their disposal to record the basics) create the basic tracks. After that we distribute that track via JemSite so everybody can paste the WAV file into his/her DAW of choice and lay some tracks on it.

Then, your efforts (only your solo tracks in 16/44.1 or 24/48 WAV format) without the accompaniement track of course, are gathered and an awesome, joint-venture track is finally mixed down by the same team/group that created the accompaniement track.

I think it would be an awesome enterprise!

What's more, I have my own homestudio, MLAN-based (16/44.1-24/96), and hereby volunteer to get this "freakshow" on the road and to serve as "project manager" to make this thing work.

I don't know if such an effort has been done or proposed here in the past, I only joined this forum recently, but I think we could do something really nice and worthwhile... And since this is JemSite, all contributions would have to be done with Ibanez Guitars, not only Jems/UVs, but any Ibanez would be good enough.

The whole ordeal offers excellent opportunities to learn about recording, since we should record and use the experiences of this enterprise to improve our knowledge on many aspects of, not only, guitar but also on recording and producing. And I'm sure that probably even Steve himself would contribute if we get this enterprise on the rails!

So, hereby I Challenge all of you Jemmers and Universers and Ibanezers out here to engage in this Project and share your best chops with all of us in a joint piece of music that could be the beginning of a wave of shredding, shrieking and howling guitars invading the internet!

*Slaps all of you with a guitar-shaped gauntlet and plays the "no balls" phrase of the Frogblender2000 (joecartoon.com)*

So what, are you all ready for some serious contribution?????

If we go ahead with this, there are a couple of things we'll have to agree:

1:
Record format: I think we should record at least at 24/48. If that's a problem however, we can do it in 16/44.1. However, the higher the resolution, the better the final result will be in quality.

2:
Main track: Let's say we'd use a root of either A or E, so those who want to contribute music for the accompaniement tracks are all "in tune"

3:
Track structure: Do we want a balladish intro that evolves into a shred fest, or will we just skip that procedure, and cut to the chase right away and maybe, as a follow-up do a ballad/sweet thing?

4:
How would we call it? I think "You have a friend", the phrase Steve uses these days when signing guitars and pics, would be a nice concept title for now. It would give a nice aspect to the project as a whole.

5:
I've set this thread up in a way that I get all replies into my mailbox. Maybe Glen would be so kind as to create a sticky thread to bring this enterprise under the attention of all visitors. Of course, if there isn't enough interest, this crazy idea of mine will die here in this thread, and in a short while. If the Jemsite owners/admins would support my/our effort, this would be all the better, of course.

Know that my best wishes go out to all of you.

Keep on rocking in the Free World!

Regards,

D.

Re: I CHALLENGE you all! What about a joint effort to create an outrageous JemSite piece?

I'd be interested, if I was any good Nah, I'm not a shredder at all. I can play about 3 notes per second (6 if I'm doing a 3 finger pull-off ), but I feel I have a pretty good grip on melodic playing and am good at rhythm as well. Check out one of my songs and see if you think I'd be good enough to work with. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/song...songID=3687368 Sorry, it's a fairly lo-res mix, but the playing is still the same

Let me know one way or the other. Don't want me, fine. Do want me, great! Later!

Hi!

JimmyJ has opened a new world to me, that of ninjam.com. It's a jamming software and it's awesome. You can find me there as Demogorgos.

I'm off to bed now, with blisters on my fingers from shredding on ninjam.

I hope to catch you out there guys!

Regards,

D.

I think that would be super cool - love to be in on that

Unfortunately, I don't have any recording equipment - but if this thing gets underway, I'd definetally try to get something in.
