I have finished modding my newest strat!

Hi Guys!

If you remember, i just bought a cheap $450 MIJ strat.

Looked like this

i though the pearl pick guard looked a bit glam and i didnt like the black SD hotrail.

and as it turns out, i was in another city this weekend and they had a Clapton Blackie there...so i got thinking,

i sussed out the propper blackie, it had a single ply guard and 3 lace noiseless pups,

Now if you remember back to when i got my JV strat i took the single ply guard off and put a 3ply on it, i kept the single for a rainy day...

well that day was today

i installed the single ply guard, and painted the hotrail white.

she now looks like this

Im really really really happy with the look of this now, looks like a real strat!

cheers for now

Jim

Hi Mate

The MIJ is not better than my AM deluxe although im sure it is on par with an American Standard.

Further to that, i think it is even with my Jimmie Vaughn Tex/Mex Strat

Jim, if you're into modding strats, I can heartily recommend the Clapton mid-boost. I swapped out the electrics in my strat for the bits out of a Clapton. Turns a sweet sounding strat into a raging monster at the turn of a dial!

Also, having the mid boost on just a little bit gives a really big biting "Texas" sound.
